Regretably, Scott and I did not always take pictures of epic occasions in our lives. However, still worth mentioning is our move to Columbus, OH at the end of the summer.

We first drove from California to Utah in one day, taking every wrong turn possible. We ended up in Tahoe and Carson City after missing our turn-off. Scott had never seen Tahoe before so it *almost* made it worthwhile.

We rented a big Penske moving truck and only just had enough boxes to be one-layer deep. Scott’s brother Steve helped us pack up the truck and he laughed when he saw how easy it would be (Steve has 6 kids and things like beds and chairs).

Scott’s family threw us a fabulous barbecue and we had a great time admiring our two brand-new nephews, Ethan and Robert.

With some tears, we left and drove all-day Friday, August 4th and stayed in North Platt, Nebraska.

Saturday was more eventful, as we pulled into a gas station in Lincoln only to be informed by a friendly bystander that one of the tires on the car carrier had completely blown out. Luckily, nothing else was damaged, we were in a big enough town that there were TWO Penske rental centers, and we had opted for the damage waiver so we didn’t have to pay a dime. We discovered later that day that someone had apparently backed into that same side of the car carrier and bent up the wheel well, but it was still driveable, so we just shrugged and moved on.

Saturday night was definitely the highlight of the trip. We went a few miles out of our way to go through Des Moines and catch-up with Scott’s good friend Dan. After dinner, we tossed a football around and lingered… not wanting to leave :)

We rolled into Columbus and scoped out our house. With no lease, we crashed at a nearby hotel and got busy with our plan of attack.

First thing Monday morning, we had the lease signed, delicious doughnuts in our belly, and we were on our way to the DMB. With new drivers’ licenses, an Ohio title on the car and Ohio plates, we were all set to move in. With the help of friendly neighbors and a refreshing lack of possessions, we had everything in the house in less than an hour.
