Hmmm.... one of Scott's sisters and her family is missing from the "how everyone got to Oregon" recap. Oh well... at least they were counted in the 29. hee hee Love the pics!! The one of Scott throwing the frisbee right at you is terrific!! Way to go. Mackenzie smiling at Mom was pretty cool. Nice shot, again. ;-)

I'm so happy mom found this post. I was going to email it to her today since she doesn't regularly check the blogs, but she went and surpassed my expectations.

Thanks for saying I'm marvelous, too. That made my day. And given the choose your own adventure beginning, I think I'd still pick the spitfire toddler with no air conditioner. I still can't believe our car doesn't have AC. Who knew they made cars this century without AC?!?!?

Oh my gosh. Tillamook sharp white cheddar cheese is the best thing ever!!! One of my girlfriends is from Oregon (the same one moving to Cali) and I remember when her gramma sent her a block and we just sat on the floor of her dorm room eating it. I never just eat cheese like that (I promise!) but it was SO GOOD!

The picture of you and MacKenzie is just precious! Did you get a hair cut?

Bring on the boxes of Kleenex! Goodness, Anne. I decided to sit down to see what photos you had posted from the reunion. I was reveling in not only the great photos but your comments of your trip. When I came to the photo of Mackenzie and I and read your comments, I lost it! That so touched my heart! Thank you for being part of our family and being such a great wife and mother! The reunion was a great time and I have many wonderful memories!

Wow! The beach looks beautiful! The real question is, did you go running on the beach? If not, that's okay. I didn't run on the beach in Mexico either! I blame that on the humidity and heat. You might want to claim that the beach was to gorgeous to flash by while running, you needed to enjoy it at a gentle stroll. At least that's what I'd tell myself.

That Grandma Bean is a keeper. And I really need to see Mackenzie soon - I want her to smile at me that way. ;)

Can't wait for a MacAskill family reunion!

@billy

I use a blendtec "family mill" wheat grinder. I use hard white wheat, but I purchase it through my church. I've bought in bulk from honeyvillegrains before, but they aren't the cheapest for wheat, I'm afraid. :(

I've used red wheat as well, and the bread is still delicious, it's just not nearly as light and soft. It also has a "wheatier" taste to it. I actually like it for a change of pace, and some people may prefer it.

No need for bread flour. "Bread flour" is just white flour with a higher gluten content. Gluten does help with getting a good texture, but I just add it to my whole wheat flour as I noted in the recipe.

We let it cool for 10 minutes or so before cutting into it. That helps prevent it from drying out.

I put peanut butter ON my bread all the time, but have never added it to the dough. Sounds interesting though! :)
