Pigs Flew at Our House Tonight

Mackenzie (3) was given a half a piece of white* sourdough bread to munch on while I finished up dinner.

She took a nibble and eyed it suspiciously.

“Why is this bread white?”

“Is it cheese bread?”

“Is this bread made of cheese?”

“No,” I answered. “It’s just white bread. It’s like regular bread but not very healthy.”

Her eyes got really wide at this point.

“Are there brownies in it?”

Say what? I know she’s at least seen a brownie. I guess once you cross into “not healthy” territory, anything is possible.

*It was leftover from a tomato goat cheese strata I made last week for Scott to surprise his co-workers with. I don’t know why I feel the need to explain, but when we do cook a fancy, decadent dish, we do it the right way. Butter, white sourdough bread, cheese, etc. It’s infrequent but it’s full-on.
